Monopoly's iconic Atlantic City properties are now pieces of Bikini Bottom in this whimsical remake starring Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants. Tokens have been replaced with animated characters SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, and Squidward. The main view offers a 3D version of the board, with an overhead display in the top right corner so players can see who has claimed which properties. "Community Chest" and "Chance" cards are now "Treasure Chest" and "Life Preserver," while houses and hotels are now pineapple houses and Krusty Krab franchises.

In addition to the standard Monopoly rules, players can elect to play by Squidward's or Plankton's rules. The former lets players move any character on the board, while the latter is a race to acquire the most cash before Plankton completes a lap around the board. Optional mini-games are also available, from rapidly tapping the "A" key to reduce purchase prices to shaking the mouse to earn extra cash after passing "Go." Each game type includes an assortment of customization features, allowing players to adjust mortgage rates, hotel numbers, starting cash, and more. by Scott Alan Marriott

Whether you're new to the Worms concept, or an addict returning for another fix of pink fighting worm action, you'll love Worms Armageddon.

As in the previous versions of the Worms games, this third episode in the series follows the same form of gameplay; you control a platoon of very individual combat Worm soldiers that does battle with other teams of little Worms. This time around, they've returned with improved and even more ingenious weapons, better manoeuvrability and enhanced game controls.

The game opens with cute graphics and a catchy upbeat soundtrack, with revamped menu and option screens much improved on previous incarnations. The basic weaponry allocated to your wriggling teams remains the same; controlled nuclear bombs, shotguns, hand grenades, rifles, homing missiles and even fisticuffs. This time around, your arsenal has been widened to include Killer Sheep (that explode on impact), Maniac Grannies (detonating Salvation Army old women), a flame thrower, dual purpose longbow, chemical weapons, the Viking Axe (which lets you chop only half of your opponent's life away) and The Lingering Fire, which surrounds your opponents with a wall of flame for several rounds.

In this game, you can play against the computer, take on a friend one on one, or play someone else across a network or the Internet (known as WormNet). If you are really serious, you can undertake a series of training missions to become a supreme Worms commando before you actually start playing for, erm, real.

An improvement on previous Worms games is the large array of new sound schemes. A number of English-style sound effects are selectable, 18 speech soundbanks in all, including various voiceovers from London, Caribbean and Scottish characters. There is even an option to record your own voiceovers and detail your own landscapes.

Be advised that this game is very, very addictive...by Nick Smith

==============================

Legendary pulp hero Tarzan made his way to movie theaters once again in Disney's 1999 animated film, and now he can come to your PC in Disney's Action Game: Tarzan. As the Lord of the Apes, your goal is to make your way through 13 levels of jungle adventures and 5 bonus areas in your quest to stop the evil Clayton from destroying the jungle forever.

You start the game as a young Tarzan who learns the ways of the jungle from his pal Terk. As you make your way through the game and enter adulthood, you'll confront Sabor, the leopard who killed Tarzan's parents, run into the beautiful Jane, learn secrets about your past, and save the gorillas from enslavement by the oily Clayton.

Along the way you'll have the assistance of the elephant Tantor, Jane's father Professor Porter and Tarzan's adoptive mother Kala. You have a knife and a spear to help you out of tight spots, and in a pinch you can always surf the trees or perform a gorilla ground-pound to avoid trouble. There are plenty of hidden items to discover, including tokens to accumulate toward an extra life, baby baboon sketches which unlock secret areas, and different kinds of fruit which act as power-ups.

In some of the levels you may have to play Jane, Terk or Tantor, all of whom have special moves of their own. Jane, for example, can use her parasol as a weapon, and Terk can do ground-pounds.

Scattered throughout the game are movie clips which you can view if you collect the letters in Tarzan's name, and plenty of music inspired by the feature film comes from your speakers as you play. by Brad Cook

==================

THQ and developer Volition's answer to Grand Theft Auto returns for another over-the-top outing with Saints Row 2. After being betrayed by your former crew and left to whither away in a vegetative state, you awaken with a singular purpose: to reclaim your territory one brick at a time. The setting is once again the fictitious city of Stilwater, where you'll rebuild the Saints gang and eliminate all rivals who dare lay claim to your turf. You'll now be able to customize your character in an assortment of ways, from modifying his (or her) appearance to decorating "cribs" to acquiring the latest and greatest in criminal couture. The action is viewed from a third-person perspective as you explore a free-roaming city filled with vehicles, pedestrians, and police officers. Weapons range from high-powered tools of destruction, such as a mini-gun, rocket-propelled grenade launcher, and flame-thrower, to offbeat armaments like a stun gun, chainsaw, and defibrillator.

Previous visitors to Stilwater will notice the city has undergone several community-wide changes. Stilwater has grown in size and offers more things to see and do. The powerful Ultor Corporation has spent a considerable fortune in revitalizing the once stagnant city, and the business will become as much a hostile threat as the rival gangs you're looking to remove from power. New modes of transportation include motorcycles, boats, and aircraft. In addition to the main storyline, which features over 40 missions, Saints Row 2 includes various activities and "diversions" that involve racing, drug trafficking, going on rampages, and more. Combat also offers more options, from using human shields to firing weapons with precision targeting. The latter's "fine aim" technique switches the default perspective to an over-the-shoulder view. Saints Row 2 further distinguishes itself by including two-player cooperative action throughout the main campaign as well as competitive multiplayer modes via Internet.

Game features:

- Over 40 story missions with additional bonus missions take place in a transformed Stilwater that is over 50% larger than before.
- Limitless Customization Play as fully customizable characters that are male, female or something in between. Cribs, vehicles and even gangs all have customization options.
- Multiplayer Co-op full story campaign has seamless integration (for example one player drives while the other shoots).
- Competitive multiplayer pushes the boundaries of immersion in a living Stillwater environment fully populated with police, innocent bystanders and rival gangs.
- Planes, helicopters, motorcycles, boats and cars can be piloted and used as weapons. On the ground new combat options include melee, fine aim, and human shield

========================

The spiritual successor to classics like Caesar and Pharaoh, Immortal Cities: Children of the Nile is a city-building strategy game that casts players as Pharaoh and challenges them to construct a mighty empire in ancient Egypt. Players begin thousands of years ago, when the Valley of the Nile was populated by simple gatherers and fishermen. With guidance and direction, these primitive people can be lead to amazing accomplishments, and ultimately, to create Earth's first great civilization.

Unlike the entertaining but fairly robotic citizens of the fondly remembered Impressions games, Immortal Cities' "Children of the Nile" are designed to behave as individuals, with their own unique wants, needs, and relationships to one another. They organize themselves by household, and the player is given multifaceted access to information about each family's particular deficits and desires. While Children of the Nile is more heavily dependant on the individual personalities of the populace than most earlier city-building games, the primary means of providing for the needs of the people is still through the buildings, services, and institutions that the player creates and manages.

Players first must provide the indigenous people with the basic means to settle down and farm the valley. Once they've tamed the lands, some farmers may decide to become craftspeople, if the right facilities and resources are available. Each new class of citizen develops on the foundations of the ones before it. Craftsmen lead to more educated citizens, and eventually the city may support an elite caste of nobles -- if it can supply the expensive and exotic luxury items on which such an upper class thrives. To gain "prestige," which functions as leadership capital in this game, players must attend to the people's ever-more-sophisticated desires that evolve along with the society itself.

Children of the Nile incorporates an interesting twist on the city-building gamer's conventional role as an abstract, immortal leader. In a sense, Immortal Cities players take the role of an entire dynasty. As each Pharaoh grows old and passes on, another may take his place, but the ease of these transitions is based on the dynasty's level of prestige. A great and distinguished leader should have little trouble passing power on to the heir of his choice, but the people may seek new leadership from other factions when a poorly perceived Pharaoh vacates his throne.

Immortal Cities: Children of the Nile is built on a version of Stainless Steel Studios' Empire Earth game engine, and features full 3D graphics. The game ships with editing tools, to allow players to create their own scenarios, or even complete campaigns. Tilted Mill development studio was founded by former members of the Impressions team. by T.J. Deci
